After 15-year-old Berkin Elvan — who was struck by a tear-gas canister during the Gezi Park protests in June and left in a coma — passed away the day before yesterday, reactions on social media snowballed.

As is well known, Berkin was 14 when he was struck and spent his birthday in a coma; by the time he died, his weight had dropped to just 16 kilograms.
