Subdued by the Soma mining disaster, but reassuring in its own way when Hardwell walked out on stage with a Turkish flag and donated 10% of the concert's proceeds to Soma, the show took place at KüçükÇiftlik Park on 17 May.

Hardwell, the world's number-one DJ, took to the stage in Istanbul for the first time as part of his "I am Hardwell" tour! From Maçka to social media, Hardwell's presence was felt everywhere.

Between 12 and 17 May, 297 tweets went out under the hashtag #HardwelleTanissam, retweeted 158 times. Over the same period, 242 tweets used the hashtag #Hardwellİstanbul, and a further 154 tweets contained the words "Hardwell" and "Istanbul" together. 241 tweets contained "Hardwell" and "Turkey" together, while "Hardwell" and "Soma" appeared together in 227 tweets.

And it wasn't just Twitter — Instagram saw plenty of activity too, with 199 photos shared under #HardwellTurkey and 157 under #Hardwellİstanbul.

The Hardwell concert also paid off for the organiser. The Facebook page of One Colony, which organised the Turkish leg of the I am Hardwell tour, gained 320 likes in the week leading up to the event, and a further 27 on the day itself. 64 tweets mentioning "@OneColony" went out too, retweeted 36 times.

Hardwell made four posts about the Istanbul concert: on 14 May about the Soma disaster, on 16 May confirming the concert hadn't been cancelled, and on the morning of 17 May a photo taken at the airport with Kill the Buzz. Finally, after the concert, he shared a photo of the moment he walked out on stage carrying the Turkish flag.
